My process doesn't stop
with insightful HCD research...
...when we can "validate" the resulting lean but massive systems design by prototyping with paying customers.

sense
intent

I build upon existing business strategies while being sympathetic yet critical of each initiative's historical context.

I facilitate design thinking workshops to

  • fill in the gaps and

  • frame everything

    • from a human's perspective

    • at the appropriate scale (e.g. relative to UI, UX, Product, or System design)

research
current state

I use reflective listening, analogous examples, and other soft skills to build the "client" rapport and mutual understanding required for accurate current state research at scale. One of my favorite and softest methods, abstract laddering, helps facilitate problem understanding at a consistent scale.

I may be a generalist because I equally value hard data analysis & strategy.

prototype

Exploring [concepts and solutions] with paying customers is the best research validation.

I hope my research will be forever leaner than MECE, but just enough for each initiative's particular context. This is design thinking's defining aspect.

realize value

I have yet to find "design" with inherent value- which is why I think the USA's design industry is mostly is segregated to "expert" consultants. For more than two years, I've contextualized my two master's degrees in lean, iterative, digital systems design, development, and implementation to ensure my value is more than "story telling".

Projects

Project_1
A POC to Constrain Market Prices

I led design thinking with executives, users and an engineer to imagine the future of a multi-department formulary process. I designed a functioning Proof of Concept web app to facilitate the newly co-designed process. I also designed the POC pitch that elicited the CEO's approval and I am advising on the MVP design.

Methods

process mapping, stakeholder mapping, systems design, technical architecture, business strategy,

IT leadership development

I led HR business partners thru interviews, analysis, synthesis & prototyping to design CVS Health IT middle managers' new leadership development program.  One of my biggest accomplishments has been my service design facilitation that gathered a relatively diverse first cohort and identified subpar diversity metrics to improve upon.

Methods

user journals, problem re-framing, systems design, API, technical architecture, business strategy, persuasive design

aggregated & standardized cloud storage

Design research and co-design with consultants found inefficient pain point of many cloud storage providers.

Subsequently redesigned my drag & drop startup to address cloud storage's greater need for convenient aggregation and time-saving standardization.

Methods

A prescribed app

this nutrition-tracking platform would give doctors a patient-approved summary of their nutrition prior to their appointment.

This new patient-doctor communication channel would save face-to-face time and documentation while helping patients stick to doctor-specified diets.
